Former Attaché for French at the French Embassy New Delhi, Dr. Patrick Beck occupied various postings abroad as Director of Alliances Françaises and in French Embassies. In France he was Deputy Director for French at the Centre International d’Études Pédagogiques (CIEP-Sèvres).
He is very passionate about literature and staged numerous plays in amateur and semi-professional workshops. He knows what talent students can produce when given a chance to excel. |

He has been associated with many institutions like Sahitya Academy, New Delhi, Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, MGAHV, Wardha and such others in various capacities. Professor Cecilia Antony completed one year Diploma in teaching From Bordeaux University, France, in 1985 and later she was awarded Ph. D. in French In 1995. She is teaching at the Panjab University, Chandigarh Since 1982 and at present is working as senior most faculty member and professor of French at the Department of French and Francophone studies at the Panjab University. She has been a member of the University Senate for 8 years from 2000-2008. She has around 18 publications (research papers, poems, articles in the newspaper). Her first novel "Le Desir Irresistible...",has recently been published.

Dr. Chitra Krishnan

DR Chitra Krishnan, Professor and head, Department French and other foreign languages at the University of Madras, Chennai India has been associated with French and francophone [particularly Quebecois] studies for over 3 decades. A fervent champion of the internationalisation of higher education and optimistic of its effects on the quality of students that leave its portals, Dr Krishnan is devoted to creating intercultural academic bridges. Recipient of various awards such as the cavaliere - ordre de I’Étoile de la Solidarité italienne bestowed by the president of Italy, the Chevalier - Ordre des Palmes Académiques by the Prime Minister of France and the Award for Academic excellence instituted for the first time by the University of Madras, Dr Krishnan feels they are spurs to inculcate the stronger-higher-faster spirit. Prof Krishnan has several publications to her credit - a feat of which she is inordinately proud.

Dr. Kiran Chaudhary

Professor ( Dr.) Kiran Chaudhry has specialized in Teaching/Learning of Language(s) and Culture(s) in a Multilingual Context. At present, she teaches and researches in the Centre for French and Francophone Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). She has guided several PhD theses and MPhil dissertations on Teaching of French in the Indian context and on Literary Translation. Keenly interested in intercultural studies, she has translated several works of Hindi writers into French and has edited an anthology of Indian short stories into French, Indradhanoush. She has collaborated with Prof. Fernand Ouellet of Sherbrooke University on translation projects of Premchand’s works into French( Godan, La marche vers la liberté, Rangbhoomi..) published by Harmattan in France.
Presently, she is also Convenor of French Syllabus Committee in the CBSE Board. As a resource person, she has organised several workshops/training programmes for the university and senior school teachers. She has won several fellowships, honours and awards from Canada and France, including the prestigious French national award, “ Officier dans l’ordre des palmes académiques” for her contribution to the promotion of French language and culture in India. |
Dr. Jyothi Venkatesh

After completing her schooling in Brussels, Belgium, Dr.Jyothi Venkatesh got M.A, M.Phil and Ph.D in French from Bangalore University. She has more than 25 years of teaching experience in French at the M.A and Ph.D levels at Bangalore University. Her area of specialization is Literature, Linguistics and functional French. She is the Chairperson of Board of studies and Board of Examiners for French for both UG and PG levels.
She has translated several Kannada Short stories ( her mother-tongue) into French. She is in the process of writing 3 books : Text-book for Open elective French, A book of ‘Sayings’ in French and she is further translating Kannada short-stories which she intends to bring out in a form of a book. At present she is heading the Centre for Global Languages at Bangalore University where more than 400 students are pursuing various foreign language courses from Certificate level to Ph.D level. |
Dr. Nalini J. Thampi

Dr. Nalini J. Thampi has been teaching French language and civilisation as well as francophone literatures for more than 35 years. She has many publications to her credit, specially on women writing amongst others. She has also collaborated in the Dictionnaire Français – Hindi of S. Sadasivan, published by Orient Blackswan in 2009.
Of Indo-Maurician origin, this polyglot academician has studied in Alger, Phnom-Penh, Puducherry and Hyderabad. At Paris, she was a laureate in 1995 of the programme telecast on TV5, Questions Pour Un Champion, and in 2000, of the Dictée Bernard Pivot. After having taught 8 years at the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages in Hyderabad (now called English and Foreign Languages University ), since 1992, she works at the Pondicherry University. She is presently the Head of the Dept. of French, and the first woman Dean of the School of Humanities. She also coordinates the Study India Programme, and the exchanges between the Pondicherry University and the Université Lumière de Lyon 2, as well as the Université Michel de Montaigne de Bordeaux 3 and the Université de Panthéon -- Sorbonne. |

Sanjay Kumar is Assistant Professor of French at The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad. He holds a PhD in Swiss French Literature from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and currently teaches drama. His books Easy Way to French and Grammaire française par étapes are used extensively by French learners. His latest book is World War I Revisited: Perspectives and Resonances (2016). He has translated the novel of an Inuit writer from Canada, Markoosie Patsauq, from French to Hindi with the title Shikaree ka Harpoon. He is the co-editor of a peer-reviewed journal of French and Francophone Studies,Réflexions. His current research interests primarily focus on French writings on India. At present, he is supervising several doctoral theses.

Professor Vidya Vencatesan heads the Department of French, University of Mumbai. An alumni of Paris 3, La Sorbonne nouvelle, Professor Vencatesan's doctoral thesis is in the field mediieval French literature. She has several national and international publications to her credit.
She has won three international awards, namely Le Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres, Le Chevalier de l'Ordre des Palmes académiques, Cavalière dell'Ordine della Stella d'Italia. Professor Vidya Vencatesan is editor of Synergies Inde, an international research journal in French which is supported by Le Ministère de l'Enseignement et de la Recherche and La Maison des Sciences de l'Homme, France. |
